Family with three children needing lodging 1/2 year-plus

Help sons 2, 7 and 8 years-old by with their father

After commuting four hours each way for a month, the H. family from New York is now lodging with HfH in association with husband/ father William being hospitalized with a heart condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The medical team is attempt- ing to stabilize William’s condition so he may be put on a waiting list for a heart transplant. The best case scenario is that he remain an in-patient for at least six months.

A new host-home is needed for his family starting the first week of January through at least July 1. We welcome offers of at least one month for any part of this time, with the homes needing to be within about a one hour drive of Center City.

Need for minimal-stair lodging

Center City hosts Sue and Reinhard Kruse provided lodging in an elevator-equipped building to Joan Brown and her sisters from Georgia

HOSTS for HOSPITALS (HfH) is a nonprofit agency providing lodging and support at volunteer host-homes for $10/night as a caring response to the housing needs of patients and their families who come to Greater Philadelphia for specialized medical care. Currently each night about 20 patient-families are receiving lodging at a host-home.

HfH has an ongoing need for host-homes with elevator or minimal-stair access, especially in or near Center City, but also within about a 45 minute drive to Center City.

Places of Worship host-recruitment campaign

HfH hosts arranged for a presentation at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in University City

HOSTS for HOSPITALS (HfH) is a nonprofit agency providing lodging and support at volunteer host-homes for $10/night as a caring response to the housing needs of patients and their families who come to Greater Philadelphia for specialized medical care. Currently each night about 20 patient-families are receiving lodging at a host-home.

HfH has begun a ‘Place of Worship’ host-recruitment drive so as to have enough hosts to be able to lodge an additional ten patient-families each night. Therefore, throughout the first half of 2017 HfH staff and hosts will be available to make presentations at places of worship located throughout the Greater Philadelphia area.

Need for lodging in vicinity of Center City / University City

University City host Todd Kovich and his wife Peggy have been blessed as they have welcomed into their home many patient-families since 2001

HfH has an ongoing need for host-homes in the vicinity of Center City / University City in association with patients receiving care at specialty hospitals such as Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Wills Eye Hospital, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Need for long-term lodging

Parents Jennifer & Ian and grandparents Pam & Frank of Maine lodged 4 months with hosts on the Main Line in association with triplets being born at CHOP

HOSTS for HOSPITALS (HfH) is a nonprofit agency providing lodging and support at volunteer host-homes for $10/night as a caring response to the housing needs of patients and their families who come to Greater Philadelphia for specialized medical care. Currently each night about 20 patient-families are receiving lodging at a host-home.

HfH has an ongoing need for homes which may be available for at least two months. Homes are especially needed for women with high-risk pregnancies coming to the CHOP Fetal Diagnosis Center. The homes need to be within about 45 minutes of University City, and HfH would welcome offers to host these patient-families both before and after when the births will occur.

Need for lodging with Spanish-speaking hosts

HfH has an ongoing need for host-homes where a household member speaks Spanish, both within the vicinity of Center City and especially within a 30-45 minute drive of the Shriners Hospital located on N. Broad Street in Philadelphia.

Need for private lodging for immuno-depressed patients

Boston D. is a 2 year-old boy from Kansas who this summer will need a private home for 100 days upon discharge

HOSTS for HOSPITALS (HfH) is a nonprofit agency providing lodging and support at volunteer host-homes for $10/night as a caring response to the housing needs of patients and their families who come to Greater Philadelphia for specialized medical care.Currently each night about 20 patient-families are receiving lodging at a host-home.

HfH has an ongoing need for host-homes which offer totally private settings for patients who due to their medical conditions have compromised immune systems and thus may not be around people other than their immediate family members. Quite often these are children who are being discharged from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and must remain in the area for a period of time.
